Surgical Procedures

In some situations, your cat or dog might need surgery to treat or prevent health problems, but we might also recommend surgery to correct a cosmetic or minor issue. In any case, the Hôpital vétérinaire des Trois-Lacs team can operate on your furry family member and provide related care.

What surgical procedures are provided at Hôpital vétérinaire des Trois-Lacs?

We practise 2 types of surgery at our clinic: elective and non-elective.

Elective surgery is a non-emergency procedure to treat non-critical issues that affect the health of your cat or dog. That doesn’t mean it’s minor or easy, though. Most elective surgery requires general anesthesia.

Elective procedures include:

  • Sterilization
  • Nasal passage narrowing
  • Hernia repair
  • Dental extraction
  • Mass removal

Non-elective surgery is the kind your vet prescribes to treat a critical or emergency issue to maintain your pet’s health and well-being and even save their life.

    Non-elective procedures include:

  • Stitches
  • C-section
  • Eye surgery
  • Limb amputation
  • Removal of porcupine quills
  • Removal of bladder stones or masses
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Etc.
