Vaccination for Cats and Kittens

Having your cat or kitten vaccinated means immunizing them against certain illnesses that could affect them throughout their life. It’s essential because some of these illnesses can be very dangerous and spread from pet to pet or even to humans. Vaccination is the best way to protect your pet and loved ones. Our team at Hôpital vétérinaire des Trois-Lacs can give your cat or kitten the shots they need and answer any questions you might have.

Why is vaccination so important?

Vaccination protects your cat from many illnesses that can make them very sick. By having them vaccinated, you’re helping them stay healthy and happy as long as possible.

What shots should my kitten get?

Your kitten should get the following vaccines:

  • Rabies
  • Feline leukemia
  • Feline calicivirus
  • Feline panleukopenia
  • Herpesvirus infection (also known as feline viral rhinotracheitis)

You’ll have to bring your cat back to the clinic once a year or every 2 years to get a booster shot for most of these vaccines. If your cat doesn’t get the booster, the vaccines will lose their effectiveness and your pet will lose their immunity.
